Biometrics


How to enroll a fingerprint:


  1. At the punch screen hit the F4 button.
  2. Enter the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Hit the F1 button for fingerprint.
  4. Hit the F1 button to enroll.
  5. Enter the employee’s badge number you’d like to enroll.
  6. Following instructions to place finger on reader times.
  7. Only one finger can be enrolled at a time.


How to verify a fingerprint:


  1. At the punch screen hit the F4 button.
  2. Enter the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Hit the F1 button for fingerprint.
  4. Hit the F3 button to verify.
  5. Enter employee’s badge number to be verified.


Follow instructions to place finger on reader.


How to delete a fingerprint  This must be done from the employee profile.

  1. Enter the company the clock is connected to.
  2. Navigate to the employee’s profile My team>employee information,
  3. Choose employee information.
  4. Scroll to employee hardware settings.
  5. Find the synel settings and choose the “remove fingerprints” button.
  6. The clock will update with the next small update, or the clock can be re-synced.


Using special enroll function for tough to read fingerprints:


  1. Settings for this function are found within the employees WFR profile.
  2. They must have “Hardware Setting” within their profile.
  3. Synel will be listed, along with a checkbox for “special enroll.”
  4. When used with validation by badge+fingerprintthey’ll be able to punch using their badge and fingerprint.

How to adjust the security, sensitivity and image quality of the finger reader:


  1. Hit menu button and enter password.
  2. Hit 7 for fingerprint settings.
  3. The default for security and sensitivity are 34, and image quality 31.
  4. Security: Increase the value if the clock is seeing fingers, but stating finger isn’t enrolled when it is.
  5. Sensitivity: Increase when finger is present, but nothing is happening on screen. Decrease if finger reader is detecting finger yet no finger is present.
  6. Image Quality: Increase if you get missed match fingers where one employee is coming up as another employee.


How to flush database and finger prints from clock:



  1. Hit menu button and enter password.
  2. Hit 3 for reload application.
  3. Hit 2 to flush database and finger prints.
  4. Device application will re-start.

How to check the IP address of device:



  1. At the punch screen hit the F4 button.
  2. Enter the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Hit the F2 button for system information.
  4. It will display the IP address as well as number of employees, and POD location.

How to change to static IP address of device at web browser:


  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Enter in the IP address following by a colon and 8080 (i.e. 10.130.4.52:8080)
  3. It will then ask for a username and password.
  4. Username: root
  5. Password: synergy
  6. Click on the EHTERNET tab along the top.


You’ll need to fill in the network options for ethernet:


  1. Eth0ip  Static IP address
  2. Eth0sm- Subnet mask
  3. Eth0gw - Gateway
  4. Eth0dns1  DNS1
  5. Eth0dns2  DNS2
  1. Once complete, hit the “Submit the form” button.




How to change the IP address at the device:


  1. At the punch screen hit the menu button.
  2. Enter the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Choose option 1 for Ethernet Settings.
  4. Update the IP address, Subnet mask, Gateway, and DNS fields.

Hit enter to confirm.




WIFI Set Up


How to activate WIFI of device at web browser:


NOTE: WIFI dongle is needed for this WIFI ability and purchased separately and must initially be on ethernet while setting up.


  1. Plug WIFI dongle into USB port located on left side or bottom of device.
  2. Reboot device so it may obtain a new IP address from the router.
  3. Once back up, you’ll need the new IP address of the WIFI.
  4. Enter in the IP address followed by a colon and the number 8080 (i.e. 10.130.4.52:8080)
  5. It will ask for a username and password.
  6. Username: root
  7. Password: synergy
  8. Click on the WIFI tab along the top
  9. Fill in the following fields:
  1. SSID    (Note: WIFI address is case sensitive. If incorrect, will not work. It also must be a 2.4 GHz network. It will not work with 5 GHz.)
  2. PASSPHRASE
  3. Check the WIFI DHCP box.
  1. If you would like to choose static IP, you’ll need to fill in the network information:
  1. WIFI IP  IP address
  2. WIFI SM  Subnet mask
  3. WIFI GW  Gateway
  4. WIFI DNS1/WIFI DNS2  DNS server
  1. Hit the “submit the form” button when complete.
  2. It should take about 20 seconds to complete.
  3. You’ll then need to reboot device so it may connect to the wireless network.
  4. Once back up, it will show a picture of a WIFI signal  when connected.
  5. If it not connected, it will show a pic of WIFI crossed out.

How to factory reset device at clock:



  1. Hit the menu button.
  2. Type in the  password (31415926).
  3. Support options
  4. Choose option 5 to “Factory Reset”
  5. Type in four periods and hit enter.
  6. The device will reboot for about 1.5 minutes and come back to the initial configuration screen.


How to factory reset device at web browser:


  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Enter in the IP address following by a colon and 8080 (i.e. 10.130.4.52:8080)
  3. It will then ask for a username and password.
  1. Username: root
  2. Password: synergy
  1. Click on the CLOCK tab along the top.
  2. In the “factory reset” field, type RESET in capital letters and hit the submit the form button.

The device will reboot for about 1.5 minutes and come back to the initial configuration screen.


How to reboot device at clock:


  1. Hit the pound # button on device 3 times and then F1.
  2. The device will fully reboot.
  3. There is another way to boot the clock from the menus:
  1. At the punch screen hit the F4 button.
  2. Enter the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Hit the F4 button to reboot the clock.


How to reload clock application:


  1. Hit the menu button.
  2. Type in the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Choose option 3 to reload application.
  4. Device application will re-start.

Note: This process is quicker than re-booting device, and only resets the application.

How to enable VNC on the device:


  1. Hit the menu button.
  2. Type in the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Choose option 6 to “Enable VNC”
  4. VNC will be enabled on the device for 1 hour. You will need to download and use VNC application to remote into the device.

How to access log files from a web browser:


  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Enter in the IP address following by a colon and 8080 (i.e. 10.130.4.52:8080)
  3. It will then ask for a username and password.

  6. There are 4 tabs along the top with log file information:
  1. SYSLOG  System log information
  2. APPLOG  Application log information
  3. SYSCONFIG – System configuration log

How to synchronize terminal data with company from the clock:

  1. At the punch screen hit the F4 button.
  2. Enter the supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Hit the F3 button to sync data from company. After complete, it will advise if it was done successfully or not.

Note: This will allow clock to obtain data from terminal configuration quicker than waiting for the small update to occur.

How to punch in using cost centers:


  1. At the punch screen hit the F1 transfer button.
  2. Toggle and choose cost center.
  3. Hit enter to save and punch into clock.


Note: Cost centers will not display if they are not set up in WFR properly. All cost centers that are to be displayed must have an external ID, and only numeric characters are to be used.

How to update firmware from the clock:


  1. Hit the menu button and enter password.
  2. Hit 3 for reload application
  3. Hit 3 to install latest available version.




How to adjust the clocks volume:


  1. Hit the menu button and enter password.
  2. Hit 8 for volume setting.
  3. Enter volume value between 1 and 100.
  4. Zero is mute, and 100 is the max.

How to update firmware from inside company:


  1. Within the customer account, go to Company Settings > System > Synergy Installations.
  2. Enter the terminals settings by clicking on the icon.
  3. In the upper right hand of the corner there will be three dots, click on them to access sub menu.

  1. Click on the “Download new code” option.
  2. After approximately 30 minutes the clock will show a pic with an arrow indicating awaiting update.
  3. The new download will load in the next Full Update, it will then re-boot and come up with the current version.
  4. You can speed up the full update by decreasing the number of seconds in the terminal config.
  5. It may come to a black screen during the update. A hard reboot may be necessary to re-start it.
  6. You should check the version number before and then after to ensure it’s updating to the current version. How to check the version:
  1. Hit F4 to get to supervisor menu.
  2. Enter supervisor password (31415926).
  3. Hit F2 for system and read software version.
